Modern flips of classic hip-hop tracks are nothing new to the music scene, and this house flip adds to the quickly growing vault of awesome edits.
The bassline for the original ‘Electric Relaxation’ is an absolute classic, and it sounds smooth sped up a bit with a 4×4 kick rhythm. The bass groove that producers Nick AM and T4PES pull from this track are amazing, and the modern house style synth fits neatly with Q-Tip’s and Phife Dawg’s vocals.
It adds a bit of flavor and hip shaking vibes to a record that is recognized as a laid back head nodder. Coming off of their 2016 album release “We Got it From Here, Thank You 4 Your Service”, the Tribe has been moving their way back into relevance. It is an inspiring thing to watch transpire! Hopefully going forward we can hear more new material from the remaining members of A Tribe Called Quest (RIP Phife!) and hear more up and coming producers bringing their own style to classic records.
