SO IT BEGINS.
A much anticipated Gorillaz album approaches, and Damon Albarn and friends have gifted us with this loomy and vocal record “Hallelujah Money”. Vocalist and 2015 Mercury prize winner Benjamin Clementine spreads his voice across these eerie sounds, giving a layer of darkness to the fun vibes we are used to with Gorillaz. The record is an anti Donald Trump song as America awaits its new presidents inauguration tomorrow. The video features Clementine in front of a gold elevator, and plays on ideas of power, big business, and humanity in general.
“In these dark times, we all need someone to look up to. Me,” said bassist Murdoc. “That’s why I’m giving you this new Gorillaz song, a lightning bolt of truth in a black night. You’re welcome. Now piss on! The new album’s not gonna write itself.”
