59th Grammy Nominees – DANCE

Recently the 59th annual Grammy nominees were released. While some records were bound to hit the top charts, there were some interesting names that not everyone hears about on a day to day basis. Regardless, this post will explore mainly the nominees for “Best Dance Recording” and “Best Dance/Electronic Album”.

Most notably Australian artist Harley Streten, you probably know him as Flume, was nominated in both categories for his album ‘Skin’ and the record ‘Never Be Like You’. Awesome to see music like this to be recognized as a nominee if you ask me!

Looking further through the list for “Best Dance Recording” we see ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ by The Chainsmokers up for “Best Dance Recording”, which is a solid guess at for the nomination as it has become a radio hit. Surprisingly we don’t see much of Diplo and Major Lazer, or Skrillex. I assumed we would see some Major Lazer on this chart with all of their recent dance hall style, head bobbing bangers. But what we get are a totally unique array of talent. ‘Tearing Me Up’ by Bob Moses has a much more laid back feel than everything else on the list, and ‘Rinse & Repeat’ by Riton and Kah-Lo puts house and techno onto this diverse selection.
